iOS 7.1 released last week and it has been great so far. The random crashing feature has been removed and there are some nice new design tweaks throughout.
The one issue I have come across is the shift key active vs inactive states. I can never tell if it’s turned on. I find myself taping it when I shouldn’t or typing texts with random caps.
Apple’s normal inactive icons are outlines and the selected ones are filled and colored to denote being active.
With the new keyboard shift key, Apple breaks convention. Both the on and off states are filled and the color shift is minimal. The inactive state has a white fill and grey background while the the active state has a black fill and white background.
Hopefully Apple fixes the confusion in their next update. It’s not a major issue but caring about the little details is what makes Apple special.
