Google Glasses

I went to Chicago this weekend and caught a great concert. Every time something cool happened the people in front of me would take out their iPhones and Instagram pics or take videos (see pic below). When 100s of people are taking photos at the same time it looks absurd. I now understand the problem that Google glasses is trying to solve. The friction involved in having to take your phone out, launch an app, and then hold it above your head for minutes at a time is too much. If everyone was wearing glasses with inconspicuous built in cameras they could enjoy the show without having to worry about digitally capturing the moment.

The iPhone is a great machine, but we still have not quite reached the ultimate goal of letting technology fade into the background. How long until the iPhone is built into glasses, contacts, or directly into our minds? 10, 30, and 75 years is my guess.

I can’t wait.
